♫ Happy Birthday to You ♫
You are very much loved in this home!
Turning 13 makes me a little bit sad!
Missing my toddler?  Took a bunch of various pictures of him and hung them on all the door frames!
Wanted him to see how precious he really is!!
He WANTED a baseball player fishing but this mama has not quite got the skill for that...Yet!
I have mostly been the type of Mom who cheers on the next stage in life. Heck I didn't even take my kids to there first day of Kindergarten.  I took them the day before stood outside the doors and pointed them in the direction to go and told them to speak real loud if they had any questions.  Couple of years later I was told by them that they were probably the only kindergartners without a parent???
Anyway just feeling kinda sad that he will be on his own making the tough decisions.
And I miss that sweet little boy who would sit on my lap and ask me to sing the "beautiful song".
♫ I love you, you love me ♫.
I think the sweetest part about the request was that he thought it was still beautiful when I sang it.

So this is what my girl wanted to wear to church today...so I told her she was not going if that is what she’s wearing...she finally came to her senses and put on some pants.

She is so funny...when she comes home she sits at the back door and takes her shoes off, which is expected, then proceeds to take her pants off.  So right at the back door we have a pile of shoes and pants...One might think she would be freeze but she seems quite happy.

Now The Hard Questions Start

So last night Pie and I were watching the TV show Modern Family, which is quite funny but laden with sinful attitudes. Usually she is in bed but she was waiting for her turn in the bathroom, Oh the joys of having one bathroom...
So anyway there is this part where they are talking about Heaven and hell and they make the comment that there is no hell...
Well this prompts the talk about Hell and how real it is and how offal.
Blah, blah, blah. I know I am not much of a story teller...
Anyway I say to her just think of the kids at school you sit next to and how if they don't believe in Christ as the son of God they Will go to hell. Trying to make it more real for her...and for me!
Then she says to me: "not just them but what about the people in our own family?? Who do you think will go to hell in our family?"
I could tell she had someone in mind, and I am still not sure who she is thinking about?
BUT as any *good* parent would do with a tough question I turned it right back on her and said. Well I am not sure who do you think...
With a very sad voice and down turned face like she did not want to rat anyone out or make judgement she just sat back on the couch and said "I'm not sure"...
I would take the "where do babies come from" anytime over this difficult truth!

Long story short...I was going to decorate these pumpkins like the ones I seen at the farmers market but after the morning I had with my boy before school it really dawned on me how much of an impact I can have on his day. Knowing that I will only have him in my home for only a few more years why not make it about him (and the girls too). Especially where it really doesn't matter.

Same Old Me

You know when M&M was born I thought I would do things differently. I would be better at this training thing with my kids...
I thought I would play the classical music when she slept. Yeah that lasted sporadically for a couple of months.
I thought I would have her talking at a year.
And I thought she would be so...ya know the kind of kid where when people describe them they say something like...Oh I know her she is so precocious.
But as you can see I am the same old Mom...
this is what she wore to church today. Her rain boots, Woowie Woon hat and a lovely dress!
I must admit she did get a lot of looks and smiles but I don't think its cause they thought she was precocious!
Then I thought; just look at My Pie she is not a mess! She looks lovely and she also picked out her own outfit
Conclusion...she is happy and so am I!

Just had to post this cause he too picked out his own outfit today but down deep I think he would rather be wearing rain boots and a baseball cap too!

Just Can't Sleep

Ever not able to sleep cause your little Pie has a broken heart? Well I would probably would still be sleeping if M&M had not come down the stairs at 2:30am requesting a bath cause she woke to find herself wet.  Now as I try to go back to sleep I am thinking about how sad my Pie was last night.  And now I am writing after much conversation with God.
Situation:
Pie is in the chorus of a peanut gallery play, her first ever, and she is so excited.  Well last night she was called out on something and she doesn't understand why.  Their is a part in a song where she is to turn to the audience and she claims she is but the director said she did not.  She did not question the directors statement directly the director just stated "Pie you did not turn around" and that is how it was left.  Till she got home then the tears were flowing.   Now her friend sitting next to her whispers "you did turn around" which did not help the situation.  So is this a case of mistaken identity or does she not realize that how she is actually performing.
We did pray about it last night.  We thanked God for the opportunity to be a part of the cast.  And acknowledge that God does not promise recognition or appreciation that we so long for as humans. We prayed that Pie would take this opportunity to show her praise to God and that she is performing for Him and He knows how hard she is working and how sad her heart is at the moment.  Also acknowledged that God is sovereign in all and maybe she just needs to step it up...

Creature Loving Creature

Look it's a grub...cute huh, well M&M is anyway! This little girly is not afraid of any type of creature. We recently went to a pet parade down town and she was just loving on all the animals...kissing and hugging totally her heaven on earth.
Can't wait to compare this to her prom photo some day.

Scream and Cry

Is it OK to feel like you want to scream or cry over:
Clothes scattered on the basement floor you just washed cause your son was looking for something to wear? He then proceeded up to his room leaving the clothes in the basement to get dressed? Or your daughters suite case is still by the door with the clothes in it from her camping trip? The wet clothes were just found in the plastic bag from the trip? Your littlest daughter's socks are wrinkled and she cries till it is just right?? Just Asking??
Usually the last one makes me laugh just not today.

The Virgin Mary

The Virgin Mary as played by Pie. Her class at school puts on a Wax Museum of a Real Historical Person. This was a great class project the children choose a person to study, approved by the teacher of course, and learn all they could on their background. They had to wright a report for the teacher and put together a board on the person and then dress in period clothing. For the museum part they made these "buttons" we would come around to each display press the "button" and they would come to life and give us a little peek into that persons life. It was really cool.

This wasn't the best quality video but you will get the gist of it and if you watch close you'll see our little M&M trying to get into trouble in the background.

A Little Baseball

A little Catching
A little Short Stop A little Pitching Well the season officially starts May 3rd. but they played a scrimmage game on Wed and some Preseason City tournaments the past couple of days. This is where he shines; he loves everything about baseball, even the cold weather during that start of the season. He never really stopped playing much this past year with the extra team training and hitting league. I think these are the 3 main positions he'll be playing but please don't take my word on that. As to the previous post on our boy; its getting better! Its hard to help when you don't know there is trouble! There were many life lessons in this past week but it didn't weaken us just bought us together! Bug will be getting a little extra help from his teacher and if he needs more we know our options! Thanks to all who love him and scurried to help him!!

Roller Skating

Pies' school had a roller skating party tonight along with another school. Our town is consolidating schools so this party was to be a time for all the kids to get together, it was super fun! The whole family was invited so even M&M put on a pair of skates. One of the advantages of having siblings that are much older! She had a great time and it was fun to see her bopping her head to the Taylor Swift song while skating!
We of course thought it was cute to put the tiny M&M skates next to ours!

That Joyful Heart.

A little story that I am sure most mom's struggle with. Last Sunday Pie went shopping with some gift money that she and M&M just received and some of Pies' allowance. She wanted to get her and M&M matching Easter dresses we had just seen at Wal-Mart. We know its a little early for Easter clothes but we live in a small town and there are not many options for shopping especially for matching dresses in both of their sizes. Pie has been wanting matching outfits ever since M&M was born.  She just loves to dress her baby sister up.  Its like she has her own little live dolly.

Well anyways, when we got home Pie was super excited to show M&M the new dresses but was distracted by the fact that while we were gone and thought that the baby was taking a nap she was actually eating Pies ChoclateValentine Candy. Talk about popping a balloon. Her box was cute but only had 4 pieces of candy and M&M ate 3 pieces and unwrapped the last. I know its not a very big deal to most but this was a special treat for Pie and she was very disappointed. I almost started to tell Pie she needs to make sure that her stuff is put away, but then realized that the saying "If there is a will there is a way" is never more true than for a 2yr old! I instead gave Pie a hug and talked till we laughed. After getting over the initial shock, she did cry for a moment, not a tantrum cry but a heart ache cry...you know the difference right! She showed M&M the dress and they danced the rest of the night in there new dresses!

I just hope, cause you know she will come home to many disappointments from the hands of her baby sister, that she will not loose the love she knows for her and become bitter towards our little mess maker!
