A little story that I am sure most mom's struggle with. Last Sunday Pie went shopping with some gift money that she and M&M just received and some of Pies' allowance. She wanted to get her and M&M matching Easter dresses we had just seen at Wal-Mart. We know its a little early for Easter clothes but we live in a small town and there are not many options for shopping especially for matching dresses in both of their sizes. Pie has been wanting matching outfits ever since M&M was born. She just loves to dress her baby sister up. Its like she has her own little live dolly.
Well anyways, when we got home Pie was super excited to show M&M the new dresses but was distracted by the fact that while we were gone and thought that the baby was taking a nap she was actually eating Pies ChoclateValentine Candy. Talk about popping a balloon. Her box was cute but only had 4 pieces of candy and M&M ate 3 pieces and unwrapped the last. I know its not a very big deal to most but this was a special treat for Pie and she was very disappointed. I almost started to tell Pie she needs to make sure that her stuff is put away, but then realized that the saying "If there is a will there is a way" is never more true than for a 2yr old! I instead gave Pie a hug and talked till we laughed. After getting over the initial shock, she did cry for a moment, not a tantrum cry but a heart ache cry...you know the difference right! She showed M&M the dress and they danced the rest of the night in there new dresses!

It was really sweet that Pie wanted to get a dress just like her her sister... sad about her chocolate..that's a hard lesson..sister's do that sometimes...we can always get more candy, but good sister's are hard to come by... I'm sure M&M will be reminded as she grows up what she did to her big sister... and never live it down
tell pie that little sisters that tiny never realize what they are doing to the big good sisters--i bet some candy will magically appear in a hiding place for pie to enjoy.
She came through! She will continue to come through, the good thing is that her love for her sister won't be lost! She'll get upset, as she did, she'll be angry momentarily, but she'll move on! Bet whenever lil sis needs something Pie will be there! They will help each other heal broken hearts, they will laugh at inside jokes with each other and they will know when each other is hurting! I see Pie has a beautiful heart, she is training her sis in the same way. Remember, they are a work in progress, just as we are! None of us choose right all the time, but most of the time we come around! It's tough stuff on a Mama's heart!
Sounds like our house!! In the end, they do so love their little sisters and vice versa!
Character building is a rough road. Can't wait to see pics of them at Easter... those are the moments that they will ultimately preserve.
