Taste of Excellence

Have you ever had chocolate dipped strawberries from Godiva.
Talking with Kathy brought back a good memory. We were saying how money is tight and that there will not be much extra for gifts this Christmas. We agreed then that we would not exchange any, just one less thing to take away form the Celebration.
Then we started talking on how she was going to take her daughter to Down Town Chicago and things like that. We then recalled a time Mom-Vandewater took us Down Town Chicago to see the sights. We would go to Water Tower and they had or have, not been there in a while, a Godiva Chocolate Store. I can not explain the excitement in our voices when we recalled the Choc Dipped Strawberries. What a great experience that was! I can not even vaguely remember what I had gotten for Christmas that year or the years after that. But I will never forget those strawberries!!
Please share some of your great charter builders from around Christmas!!

I don't have many character building stories for Christmas... but I do have to say that giving kids the gift of time is much better than toys. For birthdays with G's friends we take them to the driving range or a hike. K's friends we have them over for a day of crafting. No gift, just a coupon for time spent together as friends. They get really excited about it. It's consumable and easy for the parents to store (haahaa). So this strawberry experience was meaningful because it was different and time spent with family - so cool! Thank you for sharing!

K - What a great memory (my mouth started watering!!) As we get older and don't always know what to give children for Christmas (most have MANY toys), we try to make memories with them - my best memories with my loved ones are decorating Christmas Cookies - I have great memories...the boys usually get bored quickly but love to eat the results!!!!....some of the girls will spend an afternoon with me!!! Christmas is really giving of oneself as Christ gave to us....not about the latest toy or sweater. It's wonderful to see young Moms instilling this into their children's lives - building Character for their adult life. I love you - C
